I've been making forays into encaustic painting (beeswax, damar resin, and pigment), an ancient medium that's been enjoying a resurgence in both the fine arts and pop craft arenas. It combines well with other media such as watercolor, oil paints , organic material, tissue paper, etc. as they can be embedded and layered to create textural depth. I've tried a number of combinations, some more successful than others, to explore how encaustic may enhance the power of my imagery. Check out the rest of my pictures by clicking on the link, Art: Mixed Media, to the right.

Inspired by artsy-fartsy magazines and books (can there ever be too many of those?) I've been playing around with different techniques of capturing various images traipsing through my head. (They can happen at any time - tailgating, customs checkpoint, etc.) These represent plenty of first attempts and, while crude and naive, do suggest future blind alleys of exploration.
By the way old unwanted school library books were lovingly repurposed here. Look forward to a reincarnation of The Problem Horse!
