I've been making forays into encaustic painting (beeswax, damar resin, and pigment), an ancient medium that's been enjoying a resurgence in both the fine arts and pop craft arenas. It combines well with other media such as watercolor, oil paints , organic material, tissue paper, etc. as they can be embedded and layered to create textural depth. I've tried a number of combinations, some more successful than others, to explore how encaustic may enhance the power of my imagery.
